„Stonewall Riots“ ist eine Austellung über die Riots der letzten Junitage 1969 vor der „Stonewall Inn“ Gaybar in New York City.
Bis heute gelten die Stonewall Riots als wichtige Referenz für den andauernden solidarischen Kampf gegen Homo- & Transfeindlichkeit sowie andere Diskriminierungsstrukturen.

1969 – in der Christopher Street, dem LGBTIQ-Szene-Viertel in Greenwich Village sind
„I got my civil rights!“ schrie Marsha P. Johnson, eine Schwarze Transaktivist*in, und warf ein Shotglas in einen Spiegel vor der Stonewall Inn Bar am 28. Juni 1969 in New York City. Dies war der Auslöser der Stonewall Riots. Die zentrale Rolle der revolutionären Widerstandskämpferin Marsha P. Johnsons und weiterer Trans*-Personen of Colour ist heute nahezu vollständig vergessen. Ihre Bedeutung wird von Diskursen und Geschichten überlagert, die vornehmlich die Erlebnisse weißer schwuler Männer in den Vordergrund stellen. Der Film „Pay It No Mind: The Life and Times of Marsha P. Johnson“ erzählt über die Widerstandskämpfe von queeren Schwarzen Aktivist*innen wie Marsha P. Jhonsn und macht ihre Geschichte sichtbar.

“Stonewall Riots” is an exhibition about the Riots of the last days in June 1969 in front of the “Stonewall Inn” Gaybar in New York City. Since then the Stonewall Riots are regarded as an important reference for the continuing solidarity struggle against homo- & transphobia, and other discriminatory structures. “I got my civil rights!” shouted Marsha P. Johnson, a Black trans*activist, and threw a shotgun into a mirror in front of the Stonewall Inn Bar on June 28, 1969 in New York City. This was the trigger of the Stonewall Riots. The central role of the revolutionary resistance fighter Marsha P. Johnsons and other Trans* Persons of Color is now almost completely forgotten. Their meaning is superimposed on discourses and stories, which primarily focus on the experiences of white gay men. The film “Pay It No Mind: The Life and Times of Marsha P. Johnson” tells about the resistance battles of queer Black activists like Marsha P. Johonson and makes Her*Stories visible.
